Description
An Island Floating for You is a miniature island floating above a sea of clouds: a world made as a gift for someone special.
A warm cottage, a tree with a swing, a flower garden, a wooden dock and a small boat shape the island. An old camera, a chair, a radio, a wind chime and a telescope are scattered across it like fragments of shared memories.
It is not a vast fantasy world but a preserved piece of everyday life. The cottage stands for home, the tree for companionship, the dock for distance and the boat for an unfinished promise. Floating beyond any real place, the island belongs only to the person who receives it.
The key buildings and objects were generated with Tripo, then unified in scale, material and style into one complete 3D diorama. On the web, you can drag, rotate and zoom around the island, and selected objects can later be lifted out of the scene and viewed in 360°, so each model becomes a way into a memory. In the author's words, it is about turning the small things worth keeping into an island made for one person.
How Tripo was used
The key buildings and objects on the island were generated with Tripo, then unified in scale, material and style into one complete 3D diorama.
- Asset source: Tripo stood in for a traditional asset library and for topology and UV tools, covering the need for a large number of model assets in one place.
- Approachable for artists: the author is an artist and only had to learn the basics of Blender to assemble a presentable scene as a showcase.
- Time saved: the early design and build of the physical model went faster, leaving more time for iterating on the work and making new products.
