Some gifts fit in your hand; others take you to an entire world. GiftPortals turns a place photograph, a story and a dedication into a personal gift someone can open in a browser, made for the people we love and the memories we want to keep. Tripo creates a textured 3D keepsake, World Labs creates a spatial interpretation of its setting, and the original image and the sender's words stay with the gift.
Open a keepsake, rotate it, then step into its world. A 20-second arrival leads to a memory newspaper with the source image, the story, the dedication and the interactive 3D GLB souvenir itself. Close it to explore wherever the generated collider supports movement; with reduced motion on, the arrival is a still image. Visitors can browse a shared memory desk without logging in.
Public creation requires explicit consent to share the original photo, names, words and finished media, and a gift appears only after its delivered outputs are copied to an independent cloud archive and verified. New cloud creations use World Labs' Marble 1.1 Plus. Among the examples, Paris keeps its credited real photograph, while Rio is an AI photographic reinterpretation of GiftPortals' original artwork. Unseen surroundings and collision geometry are inferred rather than surveyed.
An optional print-preparation step exports the original GLB plus a scaled STL/ZIP with mesh diagnostics for further review. It draws on HeyGears' documentation on file formats and resin printing, and the package is meant for review in Blueprint, linking the digital keepsake to a possible physical gift. Blueprint import, supports, slicing and physical printing have not been tested yet. Generation takes time, so the demos show completed assets.
How Tripo was used
The 3D keepsake in every GiftPortals gift is made with Tripo.
- Generation: through the Tripo API, Tripo creates the delivered textured GLB keepsake from an approved photo or a miniature reference derived from it.
- Display: GiftPortals uses that mesh for orbiting, detail zoom, mobile texture variants and the 3D preview inside the memory newspaper; the keepsake travels with the original image, the personal words and the World Labs world.
- Reuse: optional GLB/STL preparation preserves the original model, and reopening a completed gift reuses its saved assets.
