Dead Second follows a doctor desperate to save his daughter from cancer. In his endless search for a cure, he accidentally triggers an outbreak that turns everyone in the facility into zombies, and still he refuses to stop his dangerous experiments. Realizing the danger, the authorities send you, his close friend, on a grim execution mission: eliminate everyone in the building and contain the infection before it spreads to the rest of the world. Your mission or your friend?
It plays as a third-person shooter, switching to a first-person view for jumps and platforming sections. The author first aimed for a much bigger project, but with limited time focused on a tight, polished 10-to-15-minute experience. It features zombie combat, level save checkpoints and a range of combat tools: a wristwatch that slows down time, firearms for long-range fights, and a combat knife for close quarters when ammo runs low.
The author made it as a gift for a friend. The game was built solo in Godot: the player character was modeled in VRoid Studio, character voice lines and sound effects were generated with ElevenLabs, one or two promotional and in-game 2D images were made with ChatGPT (DALL-E), and UI elements were designed and assembled with Google Stitch.
How Tripo was used
Tripo was the core pipeline for the game's assets: the facility walls, enemy models, environmental props and other 3D assets were generated with Tripo and used alongside image generation tools, saving a tremendous amount of development time.
