Description
Pocket Set: Until We Meet Again pairs a short film with a browser-based 3D directing workspace. It is a gift for independent storytellers who dream of making films: a film about coming home, and a 3D film set of their own for telling their next story.
The short, Until We Meet Again, tells a quiet story at a seaside station. A ticket marked "For you," a clock nearing departure, an arriving train and an empty seat suggest someone is still missing. The traveler keeps waiting, then turns and walks toward the camera: "I knew you would come." The viewer becomes the person they were waiting for. The latest cut uses seven manually directed shots across a 32-second scene, presented as a 38-second subtitled short. Two alternative takes, Suspense and Reunion, share the same world and actor timeline; switching between them at the same moment shows how camera placement and timing change the story.
In the workspace, users can move props, edit cameras and focal lengths, adjust reveal timing and lock shots. A local geometric planner creates the two alternative takes and checks framing, visibility and collisions. The seven-shot story stays manually editable and is protected from automatic replacement.
World Labs Marble 1.1 Plus generated the coastal environment, rendered as Gaussian splats with a calibrated collision mesh. Tripo generated the traveler, suitcase and noticeboard, and rigged the traveler. Idle and walking animation was authored on that skeleton, the ticket, clock, bench and arriving train were added locally, and the film was directed and edited with English captions and original synthesized sound.
The gift continues after the film. Recipients can read a dedication, explore the takes and save an independent version of the set in their browser. The English/Chinese interface supports storyboard, video and project export, and the static public package runs editing and geometric replanning locally, with no paid generation API calls. It gives someone both a story about being awaited and a place to tell their next story.
How Tripo was used
Tripo generated the 3D assets that carry the story and rigged the lead character.
- Character and props: the traveler, the suitcase and the noticeboard were all generated with Tripo, and the traveler was rigged with Tripo.
- Each plays a part: the noticeboard controls the reveal, the suitcase anchors the journey, and the traveler waits, then approaches the viewer.
- Animation and takes: idle and walking animation was authored on the Tripo skeleton. Combined with the World Labs environment and the camera planner, these editable assets support multiple takes of one scene.
