Try it live Description
Craftia is a gift for children around the world, and for the things they make with their hands. Its author, Hiro, is a student from Japan who runs Tabisuru Monozukuri Kobo, a nomadic fabrication lab, and makes things with children in different places. Making connects people across age and language, but when they live far apart, they can't show each other what they made or play together. Craftia is his answer.
How it works:
- Make: a child builds a creature from anything (paper, clay, pinecones, bottle caps) and takes three photos: front, side and back.
- Bring it to life: Craftia sends the photos to the Tripo API, which builds a 3D model, checks the body type and adds bones. Craftia then corrects the bone positions and generates a walking animation. If a shape can't be rigged, it still joins the world, hopping or flying along.
- Meet: the creature drops from the sky into one shared world, with five continents around a Borderless Plaza. Walk with a stick or by tapping, jump anywhere on the map with a paper parachute, and say hi to creatures from other countries with friendly stamps. Each new country adds a stamp to your passport, and when nobody is playing, creatures keep exploring on their own.
Even the world is made with Tripo: every tree, house and fountain was generated in the same handmade style. All the background music was made for the project with Google Lyria.
Made for kids: no fighting, and no free chat, only stamps that work in every language. No email or real names are needed; a nickname and a secret word are enough. Players can report a creature, and a grown-up reviews it. Craftia is available in English and Japanese. Physical and digital come together: what children make by hand comes alive in the digital world and connects them across distance.
How Tripo was used
Tripo is the core of Craftia.
- Creatures: every creature a child makes is photographed and sent through Tripo multiview-to-3D, rig check and auto-rigging, so handmade crafts of any shape come alive. The author's code then adjusts the bind pose and generates a walk cycle for any skeleton; shapes that can't be rigged still hop or fly.
- The world: 66 props and 14 sample creatures were also generated with Tripo (including Tripo text-to-image) in one craft style, then optimized with glTF-Transform.
