Description

The Book of Answers is a 3D narrative game about exploring, choosing and letting go. With one street, one bookstore and one lake, the author built a world where you can slow down for a while and hear your own heart.

You set out from a rainy street and step into a bookstore whose story has not yet been finished. Here you can linger, look around, and write down the question troubling you in the Book of Answers. Its reply opens a new angle on your thoughts and leads your journey to the lake. Leaving the bookstore and walking onto the jetty, you see again the things you have been carrying in your bag all along.

Five objects each hold a different worry: an unsent letter hides other people's expectations; a delicate little tower holds an obsession with perfection; an old key tangled in thread ties you to the past; an unused boat ticket records the road not taken; a cracked mirror crystal reflects self-doubt. By choosing and releasing them, you turn abstract feelings into things you can see and say goodbye to with your own hands, and each one can be let go or kept. Every object has its own release animation, after which the view slowly returns to the surface of the lake, leaving a pause for the farewell. Sit on the wooden chair at the end of the jetty, return to the bookstore, and you can write your own answer, or leave the page blank.

The author made this gift for anyone hesitating over a choice, pushed forward by expectations, or still unable to let go of the past. The experience unfolds through walking, reading and simple interactions, so you can finish the journey at your own pace. The hope is that when you leave the lake, your question may still be there, but you will hold it with a little more calm, able to tell what is worth carrying forward and what you can now let go.

It plays in first person: WASD to move, the mouse to look around, E to open doors, interact with the book or sit down, and B to open your bag. Built with Three.js and Vite, this version runs offline on Windows and opens in your browser; it needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and a browser with WebGL 2 support.

How Tripo was used

Tripo handled the important 3D assets of this world: the author generated and iterated on models with Tripo and Tripo CLI, while the narrative, interactions, code, animation flow and overall experience were designed and built by the author.

  • What it made: the bookstore facade, street buildings, doors and windows, lamps, interior furniture, lakeshore plants, bridges, and the five symbolic objects.
  • How it got into the game: a loop of generate, select, calibrate scale, swap into the scene, optimize and playtest, with repeated adjustments for the first-person camera, collisions and interaction points, before the models were converted into GLB files suited to WebGL. Working alongside Three.js and Vite, Tripo turned generated models into a runnable, interactive game scene.
